You know, a lot of pop songs use the same pattern. One example is the “sort of tropical and carefree 4 chord song” (ex. I’m Yours by Jason Mraz, Hey, Soul Sister by Train). Then there’s the “old and trusty 4 chord song” (ex. Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey, Beautiful by James Blunt). Then there’s the “alternative, brooding 4 chord song” (ex. Self Esteem by The Offspring, When I Come Around by Green Day). There’s even the “uber-pop party 4 chord song” (ex. Don’t Trust Me by 3OH!3, Poker Face by Lady Gaga).

Then, there’s Katy Perry songs… Not only is the vast majority of her repertoire “4 chord songs”, I think her entire first album was in the same key (with roughly the same tempo).
